Sam is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience working with adolescents, young adults, parents, and families. Sam earned his Masters Degree in Psychology from Phillips Graduate University with a concentration in Postmodern Therapy and holds a Bachelors degree from University of California Santa Cruz.
In private practice, Sam is passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community, utilizing strength-based and humanistic approaches to counseling. Sam has experience working with a wide range of clinical issues dealing with anxiety, depression, family conflict, bullying, self-esteem, coming out, trauma, and crisis management and is currently furthering his training to specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to incorporate additional evidenced-based approaches in therapy. In his spare time, Sam enjoys hiking, being outdoors, and playing tabletop games.
Sam currently leads the High School Group at Engage and has given talks in the community including, “Positive Emotions and How They Help” and “Anxiety: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Managing Anxiety”.
